Yellowstone National Park is filled with scenic drives. Practically the entire park is one big scenic driving route, with plenty to do and see along the way. Here you will find a number of scenic roads to check out and see which might be your favorite.
Scenic Routes
- Beartooth Pass in Montana
From Red Lodge Montana you will go from the canyon floor and climb to almost 4,000 feet. - Canyon Village to Norris Geyser Basin
Stop and see the Fire Exhibit where you’ll learn of the effects of the 1988 Yellowstone fires. - Canyon Village to Tower-Roosevelt
Drive 19 miles to Tower-Roosevelt from Canyon Village for some spectacular views of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. - Chief Joseph Highway
Take some time to pull out in the turnouts so you can see the vistas stretching before you. - Gallatin Canyon in Montana
Gallatin Canyon’s colorful slopes and cliffs and the forested banks will capture your heart as you drive here. - Grand Tetons in Wyoming
Discover the dramatic landscape where the mountains suddenly rise 7,000 feet above the valley floor. - Lake, Bridge Bay and Fishing Bridge to Canyon Village
Drive parallel with the Yellowstone River as you admire the beautiful Hayden Valley on the opposite side of the road. - Madison River Valley in Montana
Drive this river valley to see one of the most famous rivers for fishing in the state. - Mammoth Hot Springs to Norris Geyser Basin
Witness the varied terrain on this section of road. - Norris Geyser Basin to Old Faithful
Plenty to see and do on this drive, you have to make time to visit the Fountain Paint Pots and see Gibbon Falls. - Old Faithful to West Thumb & Grant Village
Stop to hike five miles so you can see Lone Star Geyser shoot steaming water from its 12-foot cone. - Paradise Valley in Montana
This valley has the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains to the east and the Gallatin Range to the west, following the meandering waters of the Yellowstone River. - Tower to NE Entrance
Here’s a 29-mile stretch of road where you can see abundant wildlife. - Tower-Roosevelt to Mammoth Hot Springs
If not in too much of a hurry, be sure you take the 7-mile Blacktail Plateau Drive. - West Thumb & Grant Village to Lake, Bridge Bay and Fishing Bridge
This is one of the best places to stop and enjoy the natural setting of Yellowstone Lake.
