Sun Valley Idaho
Visitors coming to Yellowstone National Park from the Northwest may consider including Sun Valley, Idaho in their travel plans.

Sun Valley is is located in southwestern Idaho, halfway between Boise and Idaho Falls. Sun Valley and the town of Ketchum are gateway to the 756,000 acre Sawtooth National Recreation Area and the spectacular Sawtooth Mountains. The Sawtooth Mountain range has more than 40 peaks higher than 10,000 feet and 300 alpine lakes. There are many great places in the area to go hiking, backpacking, climbing, horseback riding, and mountain biking. The Payette, Salmon, and Snake Rivers are popular for whitewater rafting and fly fishing. Around town, summer visitors can enjoy 30 miles of paved biking trails, award-winning golf courses, chairlift rides, and a skateboard park.
Sun Valley was the nation's first ski resort, and lives up to its reputation as an ideal winter vacation destination. Deep powder provides world-class snow skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. The slopes have been host to many famed movie stars and Olympic ski champions. The world-class mountain resort offers a casual yet elegant ski vacation experience, with everything from dog sledding and sleigh rides to ice skating, excellent dining and nightlife available in and around Ketchum, Idaho.
If you plan to visit Yellowstone National Park via Boise, Idaho, Sun Valley and the Sawtooth Mountains are worth a detour.
