Travelers wanting the quickest way to the park can fly to Yellowstone via the West Yellowstone Regional Airport in Montana. The airport is about a mile north of the park's west entrance on Highway 191 and is open June through September using Delta's commuter services, SkyWest.

Passengers landing at the Jackson Airport, on the edge of Grand Teton National Park, get a stunning view of the Snake River skirting the base of the almost 14,000-foot tall mountains. A 56-mile drive north on U.S. 191/89, through Grand Teton National Park, deposits travelers at Yellowstone's south entrance. SkyWest, United Express and Delta all fly into Jackson.

To the north, Bozeman, Montana's Gallatin Field Airport lies 87 miles from the West Yellowstone Entrance on Highway 191. Or, to use the northern park entrance at Gardiner, journey east to Livingston for 20 miles on Interstate 90 and then south for 53 miles on U.S. 89. Gallatin Field has daily flights on Delta, Northwest and United. Horizon and SkyWest provide commuter flights.

Logan International Airport, Montana's busiest airport in Billings, is 129 miles from Yellowstone's northeast entrance in Cooke City. From Billings, take U.S. 212 south to Red Lodge for 65 miles and then travel 30 miles on the Beartooth Highway. Logan has regional daily service on Delta, Horizon, Northwest and United.

Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody, Wyoming offers year-round commercial flights with SkyWest and United Express. The airport is about two miles from downtown Cody and 53 miles from the park's east entrance on U.S. 16/14/20.

Flights to the small airports, however, can be pricey. If you want to save a few dollars on a ticket and don't mind renting a car and paying for gas, try flying into Salt Lake City, Utah, about 280 miles to the south, or Idaho Falls, Idaho, about 110 miles to the southwest.

From Idaho Falls Regional Airport, you can head straight to the park via U.S. 20 north to Yellowstone's west entrance. Or, if you'd like to stop in Jackson, take U.S. 26 east to U.S. Highway 31 for about 90 miles. Take in a view of Glory Bowl as you cross over Teton Pass and drop into Jackson. Then swing north on U.S. 191/89 to get to Yellowstone. Idaho Falls Regional Airport has service with Horizon and SkyWest airlines.

A farther option, but with a gorgeous drive, is to fly into the Salt Lake City International Airport and drive more than 280 miles to the south entrance.
