Overview

Open from mid-May to late September, Norris Campground Yellowstone overlooks some pretty meadows and is nestled right by the river. It’s only a short walk to Norris Geyser Basin. You can also enjoy the quiet while admiring the bison roaming through your camp.

Location

Norris Campground is located on the west side of the park, near Steamboat Geyser, 21 miles south of Mammoth Hot Springs and 12 miles west of Canyon.

You don’t need reservations at Yellowstone’s Norris Campground. It’s first-come, first-served.

There is plenty of fishing and hiking within a short walk or drive from Norris Campground. The Norris Geyser Basin is a 10-minute walk away, where you can see one of the hottest thermal areas in Yellowstone. You’ll discover the tallest active geyser and see the colorful hot springs and other beautiful features of this basin. Visit the Norris Museum and hike the surrounding trails.
