Winter Services

You’ll find all the winter services available in Yellowstone National Park here. Discover the location of winter camping, lodging, restaurants, ski and snowshoe rentals, snowmobile fuel and snowcoach tours.

The Wild Side, LLC, provide expert naturalist guides to find & observe wolves, grizzlies, moose, bighorn sheep, bison, birds & more. Spring, summer & fall packages available.

  • Two lodges are open during the winter, Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful Snow Lodge
  • Access Mammoth Hot Springs via a plowed road from the North Entrance
  • Camping is available in the winter at Mammoth Hot Springs Campground
  • Snowcoach tours leave from Mammoth Hot Springs and Old Faithful Snow Lodge

Lodging is available at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. Reservations are strongly recommended; call (307) 344-7311.

Restaurants are available at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel Dining Room. Dinner reservations are required; call (307) 344-7901.

Fast Food is available at the Old Faithful Snow Lodge - Geyser Grill and at the Canyon and Madison warming huts.

Lunch Counter & Groceries are available at Hamilton's Store at Mammoth Hot Springs.

Restrooms - Heated restroom facilities are located at Mammoth Hot Springs campground, Mammoth Visitor Center, Old Faithful Visitor Center, Madison warming hut, and Canyon warming hut. Vault toilets are found at other locations throughout the park.

Camping - The only campground open in winter is located at Mammoth Hot Springs. A backcountry permit is required for camping at any other location, including the winter camping area at Old Faithful. Permits may be obtained at ranger stations open in winter.

Clinics - Mammoth Clinic open weekdays 8:30 AM - 1 PM and 2-5 PM; closed Wednesday afternoons; call 307-344-7965. Old Faithful Clinic open every other Friday starting December 29th.

Ski and Snowshoe Rentals and Tours - Bear Den Ski Shops at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Old Faithful Snow Lodge.

Snowcoach Tours - Tours depart from Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful Snow Lodge, West Yellowstone, and Flagg Ranch outside the South Entrance.

Snowmobile Tours - Depart from Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel, Old Faithful Snow Lodge, and nearby communities.

Snowmobile Fuel is available at Old Faithful, Canyon, Fishing Bridge, and Mammoth Hot Springs.
