Yellowstone Institute
The Yellowstone Association Institute is a year-round educational field program offering a series of short courses in natural history, cultural history, and humanities topics where people learn about and experience the wild, natural wonders of Yellowstone. It is sponsored by the Yellowstone Association, a non-profit, tax-exempt membership organization in cooperation with the National Park Service.
The Institute offers five types of educational programs:
Wildlife Ed-Ventures are driving tours that help you see and understand Yellowstone's spectacular wildlife. Institute wildlife biologists lead daily tours from the Mammoth Hot Springs area.
Field Seminars provide a closer look at specific subjects, from nature writing to wolf biology. These courses are based in locations throughout the park and are taught by college professors, field biologists, and other experts.
Lodging and Learning Programs are learning vacations with just the right mix of education and recreation. These programs are based at historic park hotels and taught by experienced naturalist/guides who are intimately familiar with Yellowstone.
Backcountry Programs are genuine wilderness experiences designed to be both light on the land and educational. Backpacking and horsepacking courses are based in park's two million acre backcountry and taught by professional outdoor leaders and guest experts.
Group Programs are educational programs designed to meet the particular needs of your group. Day and overnight programs are offered throughout the Yellowstone area and taught by a variety of experienced Institute instructors.
