Snowshoe Walk Starts Dec. 17, ends Feb. 25

Discover Yellowstone's fascinating winter ecology while wearing snowshoes. Join a  ranger for a 2-mile walk into Yellowstone National Park along the Riverside Trail. 

Meet at the West Yellowstone Visitor Information Center. No experience necessary.

Bring your own snowshoes, plus water 

 

  • Depart from Mammoth or West Yellowstone Entrances
  • Free for visitors
  • Trek into the wintery white Yellowstone with a ranger

Overview: The two to three hour walks depart from both Mammoth's Albright Visitor Center and the West Yellowstone Visitor Center several days a week throughout the winter season. you simply do not want to miss this ranger led walk into Yellowstone during such a peaceful season. You may just see a fox hunting, a bison dozing or creatures at play.

When: Walks are schedule during the winter season of mid December to mid March. Days and times vary by location.

Where: The Mammoth Albright Visitor Center and the West Yellowstone visitor Center

Fees: These walks are free. but each participant needs to bring their own snow shoes.

Details: Snow shoes can be rented nearby in either Mammoth or West Yellowstone.  Each tour will last between 2 and 3 hours.  Bring a snack, water, sunscreen and layer your clothes.
