Internet Access

Internet access through Wi-Fi connections has become a common thing, whether through home computers, laptops or cellular phones, something that even the hardiest of traveler will do without, even in the wild of Yellowstone National Park. However, despite the varied isolated regions of the park, Wi-Fi Internet has been incorporated in some limited places to satisfy the modern tourist. Many lodgings offer possible access, but the Park Service has not yet provided broadly available hotspots.

The National Park Service found that Wi-Fi Internet service access within Yellowstone National Park would not have the environmentally detrimental impact that had once been thought. While there are no WIFI Internet access points within the park, there is digital cellular service at Old Faithful and Grand Canyon Visitor Centers where a cell phone or cellular data card can get you access to the Internet.

Visitors can also find hotspots at the park's edges, without interfering with the natural habitats of wildlife and flora and fauna. The strongest signals by far are found within the lodgings as long as the guests have their own laptops. Usually the best option, though, is to head into Gardiner or Jackson, park bordering towns, providing both wireless and broadband access with computers in some locations for those without laptops.

Gardiner has three free Wi-Fi locations, though the purchase of food or drinks may be an expected courtesy at the eateries. They include the Tumbleweed Bookstore and Cafe (501 Scott Street West), the Stonehouse Bed and Breakfast (506 4th Street) and the Gardiner Community Library (North Postal Depot).

Jackson has wifi locations, including Wi-Fi access for laptops and/or broadband with computers. They include the Cafe Boheme (520 South Hwy. 89), the Snow King Resort's lobby (400 East Snow King Avenue, North Mini Mart (395 W Broadway Avenue), Pearl Street Bagels (145 W Pearl – one hour only per session), Albertson's (105 Buffalo Way) and the Spring Creek Ranch Conference Center (1800 Spirit Dance Road).
