Green Lodging

A cozy cabin, a historical lodge or luxury spa in a gateway community are all choices to consider when planning your stay in Yellowstone. Aside from the usual amenities, ecotourism efforts should also be an attribute we look for in a lodging property. A business that takes care of its surroundings is one that will make a lasting impression on its guests, not its environment.

Yellowstone offers few lodging choices inside the park, and those properties must adhere to a strict environmental policy. So why should it be any different for those in the gateway communities? In most lodging properties we see the most common sustainable practices already in place such as linen reuse program, on site recycling programs and paperless communication and billing. But these efforts are not all that your hotel, motel, lodge or cabin property can do. A conscientious Yellowstone visitor will look for their lodging accommodations to offer amenities that go above and beyond what is easy and obvious. Many of the areas ecotourism properties are utilizing carbon offset programs, refillable toiletries, eco friendly development and energy efficiency. Do your homework and when looking for a lodging choice, consider one that educates not only their guests but their staff about sustainable practices.

Lodging is one of the largest industries in the world where amenities exceed all else. The companies promoted on our ecotourism pages have met a minimum of 10 guidelines from the set standards list and has been approved following an onsite inspection. We are pleased to promote their conservation efforts. To see a complete list of lodging guidelines visit ALLTrips.com.
