Yellowstone National Park is a national treasure that inspires people worldwide to visit it each year. At the very heart of Yellowstone is volcanism. Huge volcanoes erupted here about 2 million years ago, then 1.3 million years ago, and again 640,000 years ago. This section of the site will outline more of the geology and seismic activity of the region and develop an understanding of the Yellowstone Caldera.
You can also use this area of the website to become familiar with the dramatic climate and weather of the region. One of the greatest things about Yellowstone is that it is such a drastically different experience depending on the time of year that you visit. So, take some time here to get to know the history of what created this wonderful part of the world.
